This 100% Kékfrankos wine comes from the top (1,600 feet) of our Grand Cru Nagy-Eged vineyard. The dense color is followed with concentrated aromas of nutmeg, allspice, black cherry, and tobacco. These aromas are continued on the palate by flavors of plum, black cherry and chocolate, all tied together with balanced acids and silky tannins. Our Grand Bleu rewards us with a long and very pleasant finish and will age beautifully in the bottle for many years.

Our flagship wine, a dry red blend of Kékfrankos and Syrah from the Grand Cru Nagy-Eged Hill, Hungary’s highest vineyard, is named after winemaker Nimród János Kovács. An expression of Nimród’s ideal wine, NJK is fruity, flavorful, smoky, and smooth. It shows aromas of allspice and tobacco that are complimented by concentrated flavors of plum liqueur, smoky raspberry, and bramble. These flavors flow into an elegant, long smooth balanced finish. The wine has a full texture on the plate and is an accurate representation of an exciting European cuvée.

Like the fabled Bull’s Blood wine Hungary is famous for, said to have been consumed before the 16th century battle between the Hungarian and Turkish armies, our Bikavér blends five varietals to create a rhapsody of flavors and a victorious finish. The unique voices of the Kékfrankos, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, blueberries, ripe harmonious aromas and flavors of cherry and spicy oak merge into one in our Grand Superior blend from Nyilasmár and Nagyfai vineyards. Our Syrah is made in a Northern Rhône style that focuses on well-balanced acidity, depth, and body. You can thank the volcanic soil of our Nagyfai and Nyilasmár Monopole terroirs for the explosive flavors of fruit, oak, and spice that just keep getting better over time.

Our Sky Furmint is a precious gift from the Grand Superior terroir of the Nagy-Eged Mountain, born 1,150 feet above sea level. Harvested from just one hectare, every drop of the excellent raw material unmistakably reflects the complex limestone minerality of the place of its birth. The wine’s unique name is after the first grandchild of Nimrod Wines founder Nimród Kovács.

One sip of our iconic, barrel fermented Chardonnay, and you’ll see why the world is eager for Eger. Reminiscent of a classic Burgundy, our Battonage Chardonnay is lightly oaked and has a lot of character. The variety has found a welcoming home in our sunny, but cool, south-southwest facing, mineral-rich granite and volcanic-tuff soil. The Noszvaj vineyard is a unique microclimate, which produces beautiful, fresh, fruity wines.

The mineral rich reductive Pinot Gris is married with the lees aged and barrel-matured Chardonnay as both sourced from our great Noszvaj vineyards. The harmony of the two French varieties, reminds us of the magic of Dixie and New Orleans.
