We’re honored to report our wines have been winning much acclaim around the globe!
Top Winery Award ~ Hungarian Wine Grand Prix
We were one of only two producers who achieved OUTSTANDING results in both the red wine and white wine categories. Our BATTONAGE CHARDONNAY and SOUL SYRAH were event favorites!
Nimrod Kovacs Dry Furmint
“… shows a COMPLEXITY and POISE comparable with the world’s great whites.”
Joe Fattorini, renowned British wine and food journalist.
Caroline Gilby, Master of Wine ~ On the Wines of Hungary
“… endlessly FASCINATING” with a “TREASURE TROVE of amazing grapes, distinctive wine regions and great soils.” The wines offer “SUPERB VALUE as they more than deliver amazing quality for the price.”
What a great crowd at this year’s Festival! We were honored that hundreds of you lined up at our table to explore our wines and get to know us. Thank you! We love this festival, and we can’t think of a better reason to visit the beautiful Bay Area.
In early March, we joined a stellar lineup of Pinot Noirs from around the world at the Ritz Carlton, Santa Barbara. It’s a truly wonderful event, well organized, and filled with enthusiastic Pinotphiles. Our 777 Pinot Noir was a crowd favorite, and we heard repeated raves for its elegance and beautiful balance!
Wintertime shows two personalities in the winery world. It features quiet beauty in the vineyards, while our historic cellars swarm with activity.
The winemaking team has created the final blends of our superb 2016 vintage. Soon the hum of the bottling line will signal this vintage is headed into bottles. Meanwhile, the young 2017 wines, considered a “breathtaking” vintage, have begun their multi-year journey toward ideal maturation in barrel.
We continuously adjust our mix of French, Hungarian, and American oak barrels prior to blending the wines. This year we’ve added a new blend of French oak from three small micro-climates, which will add even more harmony and length to our wines.
We joined 100 fellow wineries in Budapest for the 9th annual Furmint February event. The Grand Tasting, held at the romantic, lakeside castle in City Park, provided a regal setting for tasting over 150 of the finest examples of Furmint. After tasting many of the bottlings, it’s easy to see why Furmint has gained so much popularity in the US and abroad.
“We look for an interesting story behind the wine and winery, a perfect terroir and unique wines. I drink only quality wines, and that’s why I started with a nice Furmint from Nimrod Kovacs. De-li-ci-ous!!” from Klaus DeWinter, Professional Sommelier and Sales Director
“Nimrod Kovacs … a world-class winery located in Eger, one of Hungary’s most premium wine regions. Here, wines are expertly crafted from grapes hand-harvested in the top three terroirs.” from Team Boutinot.
The 2017 harvest in Eger brought “a breathtaking vintage, with amazing concentration and ripeness,” as reported in The Drinks Business. We’re thrilled with the quality of the 2017 grapes, which developed notably robust flavors after a warm and very dry summer. No wonder we’re all smiling broadly!
Thanks to everyone who joined us at the 2017 Denver International Wine Festival! The team there does a great job assembling a varied group of winemakers and terrific chefs each year. We were honored to be the featured winery at the opening night dinner, where Chef Cerney’s exquisite dishes were perfectly paired with our wines. Hope you’ll join us again next November!
